Recently, my mother-in-law came to visit for 5 days and I wanted a memorable one for them and for my husband. At 89, he began a bit 'slower, but it's still hard to find work for a woman, 86, ski-diving their date of birth was the zip line and maintainhis 89.

But I found things to do, and we had a good time. The highlight of the trip for us was visiting the town of Eldon, about 10 miles. The town (population 1000) is on paper, because it is the carpenter's house in the famous painting by Grant Wood "American Gothic".

If my mother was there 10 years ago it was difficult for the home. Now that the city bought the house, there are signs to show the way and built a museum onsite and ample parking. They also have two films on painting, one for adults and children. Some of the things I learned in the film are:

And, of course, had a small gift shop with prints, postcards, books, shirts and other souvenirs.
