North Cyprus holidays can discuss a sensitive issue. The two main communities inhabiting the island of Cyprus (turkish and greek Cypriots) have always been good at a personal level, but the ongoing political problems over the years. To condense many arguments, much history and many years of public disputes in a quick summary, there was a conflict in 1974 was the end result of which the island is divided into two parts. The Greek communitysince it occupied the south of the island (officially the Republic of Cyprus) and the turkish, the North (known as the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, or TRNC soon). Although the policies are, as always, highly complex, is the simple fact that until recently, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has been effectively isolated, it can only trade with the mainland of Turkey. This certainly has not stopped holiday in North Cyprus and more popular over the years. Although the number of visitorsNorth is only a fraction of passengers in the south of Cyprus, it is important and comfortable than 100,000 a year. For British tourists and the North has always had a lot to offer. Most of the turkish Cypriots speak English well, Sterling is widely accepted and is established and important, the expatriate community. The most important thing for the average visitor from Colombia, on the economic isolation of the country that has developed at a much slowerSpace than its neighbor.

However, changes are afoot! Since late 1980, Cyprus, lobbying for membership of the EC and it was suggested that this would be permitted, subject to a final political settlement to the Cyprus problem "on how he became known. The considerable efforts undertaken by the United Nations involved in a possible solution, and a plan was developed under the leadership of Kofi Annan. The addresses of the plan (s) is open to allAspects of the situation among the "States" and was last discussed by the leaders of these communities with various international leaders. Before joining the EC is granted, the Annan plan was to provide people in two parts of Cyprus, in the form of a referendum. While the turkish Cypriots voted in greek Cypriot community rejected the plan, however, in April 2003, the Republic of Cyprus was granted full EU membership.

Since then, Cyprushas undergone many changes. The border between the two parts of the island had been closed since 1974 and periodically updated by the troops of the United Nations. In recent years a number of border crossings have been opened and now it is easy for anyone to use an EC passport between north and south of Cyprus to cross. Although initially slow, it is now a regular sight in the community to merge the two sides of the border and see free shopping. It 'been a growing political dialogue, even ifsometimes behind the scenes "between the leadership of Northern Cyprus and the outside world.
Changes to holiday in Northern Cyprus have been so dramatic. In the past, intends to travel to Northern Cyprus, with a touch a flight en route to Turkey. Although not a very big disadvantage is the number of airlines, this road was short and the limits of the airport of departure available in Germany as a result. However, many airlines operating flights to the SouthLarnaca airport in Cyprus and is only minutes from a single intersection. This obviously has a significant impact on tourism. A significant amount of visitors to the South in recent years, a day trip in the North has dropped so much that can be returned for a full stay. The situation has also led to significant changes in the economic climate. Property prices and land to the north are still much lower than in the south. AlthoughPrices in Northern Cyprus has risen quite remarkably in recent years, there is still a significant difference, which led to a boom in residential construction. Buying a property in the north does not seem complicated (and risky) than any other purchase from abroad and many British buyers have the option of a home under the sun!
So what does the future of Cyprus? Now, even if it had been an increase in tourism and development of securitymuch of the region remains unchanged. The Karpas Peninsula in the north-east of Cyprus, is a massive expansion of nature, dotted with ancient villages and unspoilt beaches. Kyrenia Harbour is incredibly attractive and the village of Bellapais, with its imposing Abbey Bellapais, is a popular place for centuries, seems unchanged. Accommodation in Northern Cyprus have undoubtedly changed, however, and the best advice is to try to see the island off tooChanges!
