Filming took place across the city however one particular iconic setting is the Bocca della Verita (Mouth of Truth) - a carved stone face that is said to bite the heads off liars. Here, Peck pretends to have his hand bitten off, which scares Hepburn. This comical scene was filmed in the church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin, Piazza Bocca della Verita. Dating back to the sixth century, this church is the ideal attraction for history enthusiasts. If you prefer grander buildings then you'll love one of Rome's largest palaces, Palazzo Colonna in Piazza Santa Apostoli 66. This was where Hepburn fronts a press conference at the end of the film, where she famously chose her regal duties over love.
